Background
Extensive research was conducted on the topic of crime in urban cities across America. I've discovered exactly who it affects and why it is so common. I was also born and raised in an urban environment for over 23 years and have experienced crime tear those communities apart. Four things that contribute to this crime are as follows:
• Generational blame
• Gang activity and the "code of the streets."
• Musicians spreading violent messages to youth.
• Corrupt law enforcers using their authority in a negative fashion.
Upon completion of research, the information was used to develop a solution for the problem that many view as hopeless. This is when I decided to create "1UP The Influence Movement." The term "1UP" means to rise above. In this campaign, it represents rising above negative influences that encourage or promote urban crime. For years, people have played the blame game when it comes to this issue. 1UP embodies the idea that change begins with the individual. It becomes a movement in the sense that one person rises above negative influences and encourages another to "1UP" them by doing something greater. This promotes a constant growth within a community. That growth within the community will promote growth within the entire county. Growth within the country will eventually promote growth around the world.
In order for this movement and campaign to work, I feel that it is important to talk to the target audience in a language that they understand. The presence has to be strong, aggressive, and direct.
